General Services Administration (GSA)

The overall mission of the General Services Administration (GSA) is to provide policy leadership and expertly managed spaces, supplies, services, and solutions, at the best value, to enable Federal employees to accomplish their missions. We are the largest public real estate organization in United States, maintaining more than 339 million square feet of workspace for more than a million Federal employees in over 1,600 American communities, comprising 40 percent of Federal office space.
Public Buildings Service (PBS)
GSA provides a full range of real estate services, as well as serves as builder, developer, leaser and manager of Federally owned and leased properties through our Public Buildings Service, the entity primarily responsible for the Federal Government's civilian facilities program.
- Office of Chief Architect (OCA)—Coordinates GSA's architectural, engineering and construction services.
- Office of Applied Science—Serves as the Public Building Service's repository of expert knowledge and resources. This office is the national resource when seeking information related to delivering expert resources in the areas of Energy, Work Places, Sustainability, Environment, and Child Care.
- Office of Portfolio Management—Responsible for maximizing the value of PBS' portfolio of owned and leased assets by developing national strategies and serving as a consultant to the GSA regions.
